FAQ's

How does online therapy work?

Once we have agreed to work together, I will send you details for joining a video call at a time that is suitable for you. The sessions are the same as they would be face-to-face. Alternatively, we can talk on the phone if you prefer not to use video.

How often will we meet?

Initially, it is usually helpful to meet weekly as it is important for building the therapeutic relationship. Some people move to fortnightly sessions after therapy progresses.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions will depend on many factors. Some individuals have therapy for 6-8 sessions, whereas others have many more sessions. This can be discussed during the assessment, and reviewed regularly. I understand that cost is an important factor, so we will discuss how many sessions might be helpful and make a plan for how best to use the time we have together.

Is the service confidential?

Yes, of course. However, there are exceptions to this. For example, if someone is at risk of harm then I have a duty of care to contact an appropriate professional to minimise this risk. I will always endeavour to speak with you about this first. The conditions of confidentiality will be discussed with you at the start of therapy.

Can I cancel a session?

It is absolutely fine to cancel a session, but I ask that you give me 48 hours notice so that I can offer this time to somebody else.

Can I invite my family member/spouse/friend to sessions with me?

Of course, if you would like someone who you trust to attend sessions with you that’s absolutely fine.
